Why Choose A Marquee For Your Reception?
Many of us have been lucky enough to experience the pleasures of a typical Summertime marquee wedding. Guests enjoying being outside in the sunshine during Champagne Reception, then moving into the pleasant shade of the marquee for a relaxed Wedding Breakfast, chatting with friends and old acquaintances. Children playing upon the lawn while the band strike up the first tune, friends and family finishing off the celebrations in the marquee after sending the happy couple off for the night...
Although this fantastic and quintessentially British custom is reason in itself to choose a marquee for a wedding reception, there are of course many other equally important reasons.
Individuality
Marquees in themselves offer a flexible and sizeable facility within which a couple can choose the features and design they desire. This allows them to stamp their own taste and individuality on an intensely personal day, free from the backdrop that already exists at a fixed venue - whether this be a stately home or a hotel.
At Home
For many a marquee offers them the only option of spending their Wedding Day where they feel most comfortable - at home. A marquee structure erected in the garden gives the bride & groom's families the opportunity to stage such an important day at home by providing the space to entertain sometimes literally hundreds of guests for a one-off, never to be forgotten event. Brides in particular appreciate the chance to prepare for the wedding in the intimacy of their own bedroom before the short trip to their nearby church.
It is looking increasingly likely that new laws will soon grant the license to marry to the person performing the ceremony rather than the venue. This means that it is feasible for entire Wedding Days to be spent within your garden. Ceremony marquees and Reception marquees could be alongside each other, or even the same structure could be used for all parts of the day and converted between ceremony and reception. Although this is not law yet it is very much worth 'watching this space'. We are expecting this ruling to change the face of weddings in this country, allowing even the smallest of details to be tailored to suit the particular tastes of those involved.
Control
By opting for the 'marquee option' one almost inevitably gains far more control over proceedings, both on the day itself and during the all-important lead up to the day.
Families can be free from the restrictions which are so often imposed by fixed venues. These can often limit the timings of the event, the choice of caterer/florist etc, even down to how loud the band or disco is allowed to play! By choosing a marquee couples can gain considerable control over a wedding, thereby ensuring all the details are those they have chosen, not those chosen for them.
