What makes a good party?
Everyone has their own ideas about what makes a perfect party - which ingredients in particular are crucial? Is it the entertainment, the food and drink, the marquee/venue, the décor, the lighting, or the guests themselves?
Of course all these items are vital, but a common thread running through the whole party organising process is the care and attention paid to every last detail. If this care is recognized by your guests, their presence at the party will be seen to be highly valued and appreciated. This realisation, which occurs at a very early stage in the party, will facilitate a relaxed atmosphere, and encourage your guests to really go for it!
The best parties should be as much fun for the hosts during the organisation stages as during the function itself, and this is vital. A rational, relaxed and pleasurable planning process is essential, perhaps with the help of a professional who should be proficient at facilitating such an approach, or perhaps just by yourself.
Careful and attentive planning, although essential, will not guarantee a successful party. Of course, the definition of a 'successful' party is as subjective as the design of the party itself, but broadly speaking if host and guests leave with smiles and long-lasting memories, anything else is a bonus. This result is most likely to occur if the individual components that provide the setting for the platform for the party (the look, the music, the food and drink, the venue/marquee, the lighting etc) synchronise with the through-line of the event, be that the theme, or simply the very reason for the party in the first place. A disparate party will confuse your guests.
A party must happen somewhere, and choosing the right venue is a sensible place to start...

Why?
- They provide flexibility for you to hold the party at the site or venue of your choice
- They can be small and intimate or alternatively large and spectacular - the key here is with a marquee you can choose the desired size, unlike a fixed venue where you get what you are given
- They are ideal for theming and dressing as they offer an initial 'blank canvas' (no pun intended) and their frame design allows for good rigging points for lighting rigs and hanging features
- They can be opened up in Summer to allow for Al Fresco style events, or 'centrally heated' in Winter to offer all year round facilities
The crucial thing is for us to understand the look and feel you want, whether this comes from a photo in a magazine, a marquee you have been to previously or a 'dream look'.
Party design involves a blend of ingredients - entertainment, food and drink, lighting, décor, colour schemes, quality sight lines, flowers etc - so that guests immediately feel they're special, and attending a well thought out and different party.
To sum up, at whatever budget level your party sits at, if you are prepared to look after the details to the extent that your guests can perceive a special atmosphere, then your party cannot fail.
This is especially true of marquee parties, where the amount of detail that needs to be attended to can seem vast, and where even the smallest oversight (e.g. a guest sitting in a draught) can leave guests feeling literally left out in the cold!
