Electrical Power Management
Lighting, Disco, Bands, Caterers - all usually require a safe and reliable power supply. Consequently efficient and effective power management is central to the success of an event.
Mains Supply
This is obviously the preferred source of electrical supply, as typically it is not only the cheaper option but also the simplest and most reliable.
Where possible we aim to "wire-in" to a permanent supply, usually a mains board within your house/outhouse/garage. However, for large events we will use a temporary generator supply unless 3-phase power is available (some larger houses, hotels etc have a three phase supply). We would ascertain what power is available upon a technical site visit to the marquee location.
Generators
'Super-silenced' generators have become de rigeur within the events industry as they ensure the viability of events in the remotest of conditions. Sound insulation prevents the units from detracting from the event itself. (A handy tip is to ensure, if you are having generators, that they are super-silenced. There is nothing more distracting during the Bride's Father's speech than a tired old building site generator chugging away in the background!)
AMF panels (Automatic Mains Failure) linked between a 'slave' (main) generator and a 'back-up' (standby) generator ensure continuity in the unlikely event of mechanical difficulty with the slave. This 'slave & back-up' set-up is standard practice at our events where mains power is not available.
For applications where a level and uninterrupted power supply is essential (i.e. where computers are involved, intelligent lighting and/or sensitive PA systems etc) synchronised sets can be selected which are capable of maintaining an even supply without fluctuation.
Power Audits & Power Distribution
By carrying out a thorough power audit on every event we are able to plan our electrical distribution to the nth degree. We take into consideration everything upon the site that requires power, from a refrigeration van to a chandelier, leaving nothing to chance.
It is extremely rare that Complete Events brings in outside contractors for power distribution - we have all the knowledge and experience in house, representing a large saving for our clients.
For successful power distribution we own everything from 125amp 3-phase cabling to reliable and safe RCD protected distribution boards, with adjustable milliamp trip setting. These boards are designed to trip and isolate power as near to the source of any problem as possible. This prevents the entire power supply from tripping and the event effectively being brought to a halt.
These boards provide maximum safety with minimum disruption.
When running cables we try to combine the most effective and the least visible route, and cable protectors/roadway mats and C-Form watertight plugs ensure safety around a site. We will always attempt to leave your garden looking pristine, during the event and after we have left.
Technical Persons
Complete Events very often provide a member of our Technical Event Team to be present during an event to ensure, amongst other things, that power supply and distribution is managed and maintained throughout. For the largest of events we often employ a dedicated engineer for generators alone.
