Some of our biggest parties are what we call Landmark Birthdays - 30th, 40th, 50th etc.
These parties are often organised by the guest of honour's partner, and as such take on an even greater significance as an expression and reflection of the lifestyle of that guest of honour.
There is no one successful formula for a party of this nature, save that clients tend to have a very clear idea of what they want, and are hugely enthusiastic to have a good time and make sure that their close friends are looked after meticulously.
This care and attention for friends extends to providing the best in all the crucial areas which make a party truly memorable.
The Feel and Style of the Party
At Complete Events we spend time with our clients making sure we understand the desired mood and feel of the party. This understanding makes us better equipped to suggest the right caterer, the best band, the most suitable theme etc.
Personalise your Party
For many of our clients we suggest that they personalise their party with touches of theming which reflect the individuality & interests of the guest of honour.
This may be as simple as blown up 'poster' photographs of the Birthday person hung around the marquee. If the guest of honour is a keen cricket fanatic (for example) then table centres, colour scheme, menu and drinks list, invitations, even
marquee layout can reflect this.
Of course these occasions do provide a wonderful opportunity for the guest of honour to be mildly humiliated/embarrassed for the entertainment of other guests!: an old cine-film of them as a child, school reports incorporated into the invitation etc.
The Music
Where possible live music is preferable. Sourcing and booking a good band can make or break a party.
A quality band, experienced in their 'art' can assess the mood of your party and play the right music for your guests' enjoyment. Remember that they are often best placed to judge the mood on the night and try not to tie their hands too much by restricting them exclusively to a pre-defined playlist. This rule also very much applies to your chosen DJ.
Food and Wine
A good caterer will always suggest some menus and wines which have broad appeal and fit in with the style of your party, and will approach their area of responsibility with the same creative enthusiasm as the person responsible for the overall party design.
Photography
If you are throwing a party, it makes sense to have a good quality photographer to record it. Technology allows for party photos to be posted on the internet which your guests can view / download afterwards, which is rapidly becoming a popular option (you may want to vet these photos before your photographer posts them!)
