Most of us have been involved in an exuberant and boisterous 18th or 21st at some point, whether an organiser, a guest or the guest. These celebrations are typically notable for their energetic dancefloors, special effect lighting, lively entertainment and even livelier bars!

Complete Events are often approached by clients who want to host a 21st or 18th for their children, but might not have the confidence to do this inside their house for fear of revellers unwittingly making a mess and/or damaging property. 

In addition to this the family home does not usually offer the atmosphere of a night club or other style that their children often want. We understand what is important for a successful party. Consequently it is crucially important that the available budget is spent wisely on those elements of the party where it will be most appreciated.

We tend to suggest to clients that the budget gets split, with greater emphasis on entertainment, lighting, special effects and theming, and less on items such as flowers, drinks receptions, sophisticated wine lists and extensive menus.

The schedule of the party is very much geared towards dancing. Sit down meals can be buffet rather than waitress served.

Some Ideas

• Invitations: A good invitation, classy but fun, sets the scene for a successful party.

• Chill-Out Zones: Quieter areas with soft furnishings are very popular, and are ideal for doubling up as sleepover areas (avoiding hordes of guests in your house!)

• Starcloth/Nightsky: This is the ultimate 'Nightclub' accessory within marquees, and can be cost-effective by putting it only over the dancefloor (although it looks truly fantastic throughout a marquee structure). We own masses of this lining: give a call to discuss.

• Entertainers: Magicians, look-a-likes, crazy waiters etc are all excellent ice-breakers to get the party started. Discos are usually the most cost-effective option for music - they are most likely to be very flexible with playlist (often developing a 'schedule' with you before the event) and will play all night (if paid!). After all, of all parties that are likely to go on till the last person stands, 18ths and 21sts are the ones. That said, there are some truly excellent bands out there, some of whom are at their very best when playing to a younger audience.

• Luges: Vodka luges have always been, and always will be, fantastic fun and a great way to liven up the bar area. If having torso luges (by far the most popular for obvious reasons) weigh up which sex would be most appreciated, and if it is a close run thing (and the budget stretches to it) have one of each!
